Reading Tree Kids is a literacy enrichment program that comes directly to home daycares, daycare centers and/or family homes. We provide weekly or every other week onsite literacy enrichment. Storytime is followed by an activity that relates directly back to the book(s). We also offer a free book exchange library.
An outside reading teacher can increase children's interest in books. This excitement leads to an environment of strengthened pre-literacy skills and vocabulary expansion. I support early childhood providers and the children they teach. This interactive program incorporates elements of math, science, social skills, art, and more. With the Reading Tree, children equate reading and learning with FUN! When learning is fun, children have better retention and focus, setting up the foundation for later learning.

The Reading Tree advocates for positive, play-based learning environments and provides direct early literacy support to existing childcare programs. We do this by building relationships with local early childcare providers and the children in their care. At the Reading Tree, we believe that an early love of the spoken word, pictures that tell a story, listening and being listened to will set the foundation for the reading, communication and pro-social skills that are necessary for success in school. Our goal is to help the children of today preserve their innate love of learning, and to become strong, confident communicators through rich literary experiences and meaningful conversations.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, more than one in three American children start Kindergarten without the skills they need. The AAP states that reading out loud from infancy stimulates early brain development and helps build key language, literacy, and social skills. (Read more AAP)
About 2/3 of children are not reading proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. Families living in poverty are significantly less likely to read out loud to their infants and toddlers. Only about half of parents read to their littles daily. Less than 10% start reading to their children from infancy. The word gap is not closing, and can start appearing as early as age 18 months. (Word Gap, NPR)
According to Reach Out And Read, it is widely accepted that reading out loud is the most researched activity leading to the development of language and early literacy skills. (Reach Out and Read)
